My son and I have weird random ideas, and every now and then he tells me he wants me to make a mashup of random things in Photoshop or a video. I’m not great at either Photoshop or video editing but I know enough to get the idea across, so I’ll spend 30 minutes or so trying to get his vision created. Some come out better than others but he’s enjoying the process of coming up with the idea, directing me on how it should look, and seeing the finished product. Unfortunately I didn’t save everything but these were fun to make with him.

Jellyfisharc
The first mashup I saved was from a contest he thought of (around the time when the pandemic lockdown first started) to create an underwater creature out of multiple sea animals. Mine was a Jellifisharc – a shark with a jellyfish for a head. Initially he just wanted me to think of a creature to tell him about, but he started drawing his idea on paper and didn’t know I was drawing (poorly) in Photoshop using my mouse. I can’t remember what his was, but he declared himself the winner after laughing at my creation.
Digmate
After dinner one night, Wesley told me I needed to make a mashup of the Pokemon Diglett with a crewmate from Among Us. I found an image and he directed me on what to do to.
Wildabee
After watching an episode of Welcome to Earth (with Will Smith) about swarm behavior and wildebeest, the idea for Wildabee was born. Wesley said I needed to make him a wildebeest and bee mashup, so we looked around for images and settled on a wildebeest jumping into a river. He wanted to remove its front legs and have a bee’s wings and body, and we stuck on the antennae for good measure.
Clefairy/Flareon Meme
I was playing Pokemon Go catching a Clefairy when Wesley said something that sounded like Flareon (I don’t remember what he actually said) and I yelled out “Clefaireon!” for no reason. We talked about how that could be a meme with Clefairy riding Flareon in one panel, then them standing next to each other in the next.

Wesley blasting off again
Wesley and I used to watch old videos of him at night before bed, and the original video was a slowmo of him jumping over some toys. He also used to watch a lot of Pokemon and for some reason while we watched the video of him jumping, I said “he’s blasting off again!” which sparked the idea for this video. After he went to bed I made the video and added some audio of a shuttle launch. He loved the video when he watched it the next day.
Wesley’s Feelin’ Jaunty
Wesley enjoys playing Fortnite and knows all the dances and emotes in the game. After watching another video of himself when he was younger, he had the idea of turning the video into a Fortnite emote. I don’t think it turned out that great (it would have been better if it was longer – I should have spent more time on it but got lazy) but he still enjoyed it.
